Q for the petrolheads

Anyone know of somewhere in UAE that's competent enough to do a remap of a turbocharged engine without blowing it up?

Motorsport quality, with their own axle dyno or rolling road

No but a tip might be to catch up the official drag racing guys. In BAH, the big tuning house that preps the best drag cars does all the mapping for the fast road cars as well so same might be the case in AD

Alternatively and this is just a real shot in the dark; there used to be a small car showroom on 7th street called F1 that was near the Sheraton (hotel with an English pub at the bottom if I have the wrong hotel name). That place used to flog all tricked out very expensive exotica. They may be able to point you in the right direction

Actually it might have been called Formula and not F1. I only ever passed it when pissed on my way home so cant remember

I'm not sure what's it's called, but I think I know the place you mean, it's just the other side of the junction to the Sheraton.

Find a forum specialising in your make/model of car, if there is a place in the UAE that is any good, someone will know about it.

Alternatively, I know a guy who works in the sport, lives in Dubai, I'll send you his e-mail via pm. If anyone will know, he will.

I've tried the first option already....there is a manufacturer approved remap/ECU upgrade commercially available but not in the UAE and I've also been in contact with another one who will do it but he wants the ECU back at their place in Germany.

Thanks in advance for the email contact!

I think so, my memory is letting me down badly. If you came out of the pub front door and turned left onto 7th street, it was down there on the left hand side. It was near a very good electronics shop that I used to fall into on the way back to the apartment and then decide that I couldnt possibly live without; latest Sony camcorder, latest sony laptop, latest sony camera etc. Fortunately I cant remember the number of times I woke up with a bad hangover and new cardboard box in bed with Sony written on the outside, that place must have loved me. I wouldnt have bought any of it sober but its all still with me now and working as new so perhaps it wasnt a bad thing

Fortunately I then moved to 8th street and there were no fancy electronic shops on the way home from the Trap bar but I do remember some of my colleagues waking up with something slightly less appealing in the morning than a Sony camcorder after a night in the Trap. Very bad/good place.

Try these chaps...the guy who runs it has long experience preparing race and rally cars.

They sponsor a rally team which a mate of mine is in who runs an FJ Cruiser in the Cross Country and Baja races in ME and Europe...

http://a2b-garage.com/

About Us page list engine builds/rebuilds and ECU mapping amongst services they specialise in...British managed, and they're in Al Quoz..
