Private home Iftar etiquette

I've been invited to an Iftar at a private home rather than usual hotel.

Is it normal to take along a gift eg. dates, chocolates, flowers, hard-to-get-here copies of uncensored FHM (only slightly soiled) ?

Bring a bottle...

Vimto for the ladies, red wine for the men. Don't tell anyone you are on the red.

or maybe just some Rennie.

It's generally considered unnecessary (or in some cases, impolite) to bring anything to Iftar / Sohour in a local home, as it's their friendly gesture to offer you hospitality.

It doesn't feel natural to me either, but it's just how it is.
