Default premium taxis

Are there any premium taxi services in Dubai?

a bit like the Al-Gazelle 'limos' in Abu Dhabi - i.e. a taxi company you just call up but they send something a bit more comfortable and not smelling of sick?

They are some yeah.

Not sure where though, I've had a few hotel cabs and stuff and they aren't much more expensive.

A year or so back I'd had a shit day at work, finished at 10pm, went to DFC to buy a new shirt to go out in teh next night, bought a great one which cheered me up, got outside, no cabs so got a stretched limo home - was ridiculous of course but cost twice what a cab was, so DFC to Mirdif was AED 80.

Can't be bad really can it?

Cheers, I shall ask around. Nothing formal then.

I've just remembered that there are some Mercs parked outside the DIFC so I'll ask them.

Bascially, I have the outlaws in town and they are going to the Burj for afternoon tea. I thought it would be nice if they went in a decent car.

Regular station wagon/estate taxis during Eid-Al Fitr are to be avoided

Why not hire a car and driver for the day, my company tends to do that for me when I am in Dubai. They use Budget Hire and usually a camry but there are bigger and more luxurious cars available.

It may be cheaper also

I turned up at the Burj in a Lancer that hadn't been washed in six months.

Still got the royal treatment. Valet parking and all. It's well worth a visit and we were lucky to receive a free tour of the entire complex (a friend who was working at the embassy in AD organised the tour).

*This was the week before I got my new Pajero. When I finally took the car to be washed before returning it to Budget, to my surprise I'd forgot the original car colour - metallic blue and not beige.
