Default Premier League "Team of the Decade"

As voted by current Premier League managers................

[PS - Shearer? I always think of him as a 1990s player, mainly............]

No surprises really, but I agree with you - Shearer was at his peak in the 90's before the leg breaks and old age set in.

I reckon the 90's team of the decade would also have been dominated by Man Utd, Schmeichel, Neville, Bruce, Pallister, Giggs, Scholes, Cantona anyone? Maybe a few Arsenal players to make up the rest.

Gary Neville and Edwin Van der Sar...Hahah...mind you, not too many Premiership managers other than Baconface have been around for the necessary ten years. What on earth is Shearer doing there? He was around much more than 10 years ago, surely. People have such short memories. Marcel Desailly (Chelsea 1998-2004), Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Gianfranco Zola are conspicuous by their absence. Arsenal's 2003/4 invincibles were so much better than United's current squad.

Learnt everything he knows at Southampton.

Can only play off a bigger forward - Quinn / Beattie etc

Had one blinding season with 31 goals (?) which is amazing, but no consistency at all. Can't be in the team.

A debatable statement, but even so............ I'm simply saying he shouldn't be in in this team as he barely played at all in the last ten years.........

Keane??? You must be joking............. the man who earned his 'legendary' reputation running up and down the pitch in a straight line?? Oh but of course he was 'talismanic', 'inspirational', and always 'led by example'.... oh yes I always forget that bit.........

A one-dimensional grunt was 'the greatest midfield player of his generation'?? He wouldn't even get in my "Five Best Man Utd Midfielders Of The Last Twenty Years" list (Cantona, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, Ronaldo, off the top of my head, but I might add some even better names later when I've had more time to think about it).

Useless tosser...........

you are swimming against a tide with that, the midfielders you mention would not have been able to do their thing without the freedom he gave them.

Hmm seems like i touched a nerve

to add:
* FWA Footballer of the Year: 2000
* PFA Players' Player of the Year: 2000
* Strogaldo De Legendary Award: 1999 & 2007
* Premier League 10 Seasons Awards (1992–93 to 2001–02): Overseas Team of the Decade
* English Football Hall of Fame: 2004
* Premier League Player of the Month (2): October 1998, December 1999
* FIFA 100
