Re: Pre-determined ?
One of those drivers just needed to take 5 seconds longer getting out of the bath, or eating his breakfast, or forgetting his car keys, stopping longer at a set of lights etc etc , and that collision would have be avoided......!

I know what you are talking about and the same thing happened to me. But not in a million years would I have ever believed that that would happen. Or that life would ever be 'normal' again.

Re: Pre-determined ?
Pre-determination effectively gets ruled out if our current understanding of quantum mechanics and non-linear dynamics is correct. In the old physics of Newton and Laplace, if you knew the position and speed of every particle in the universe, you could theoretically predict the future with a big enough computer to calculate the future trajectories and interactions of those particles. Einstein, Heisenberg, Scroedinger et al demonstrated that this was horse feathers. Non-linear dynamics further laid waste to such rosy optimism by demonstrating that in a system like the weather or a financial market the smallest error in measurement can lead to wildly divergent consequences...
Course it is just about possible that multiple universes exist so everything that could happen does - you just happening to be living in the wrong one....

I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about???

i sometimes see an accident on the road, and think just how many chance influences happened that day to bring those two people / cars together at that precise moment.......a bit like that film Final Destination !

Re: Pre-determined ?
Two people throw a dice each and both throw 6 and they go "oooo - what's the odds of that?!"
Two people throw a dice each and one gets a 5 and the other a 3 and they say nothing.
Why is this?....each case has equal odds of happening.
In our lives we have things happen and we think about all the things that had to come together to make that happen and think it's fate, karma or whatever because if one element in the chain was missing that particular event wouldn't have happened...be it meeting someone or having a car crash or whatever.
But if one of those elements were missing it just means something else will happen and you'll still say...oooo that must be fate.
Life's just random, stuff happens. If you choose different routes you'll get different results but no matter what you do stuff will always happen.
Most apply summed up with "sh.it happens".
It just does. You can't stop sh.it happening.
I think i've stopped making sense now.
