PR executive makes dumb comment.

PR executive of Sacco.

" Sacco is the head of IAC responsible for websites like Vimeo, OkCupid, and Tinder to name a few"

Her comment

'Going to Africa. Hope I don't get AIDS. Just kidding. I'm white!':
...and she is a PR executive :hysterical:

Let me rephrase that; she was a PR executive;)

You bastard! I wanted to laugh out loud at that...but I can't. Take it that a muffled yowl, something like an amplified cat yawn gurgled out.

One of those it'd be funny if it was true:-

UPDATE, 1:118AM: Seems that JustineSacco6 isn’t Justine Sacco after all. “Okay ya’ll. I have a confession. I’m not Justine,” a Tweet on the almost brand new Twitter page has now said. Which means that while IAC have taken the real Sacco off their corporate website, there is no official word if the Communications director still has her job or not after tweeting what the company termed “offensive” remarks about AIDS and Africa on Friday.
Pity, would love it (love it) if that really was her.

Of course I believe in free speech so I'm odd that way (and in others but that's a different thread).

There are atleast 2 commenters on the Mail's below story asking what happened to her free speech.

This is not directed at you as I am sure you understand what Free Speech means.

There are soo many people who seem not to understand what Free Speech entails, when cases like this woman's or the Duck Dynasty dad's come up. Some folks don't understand that Free Speech is a constitutional guarantee the government can not infringe upon. This lady can continue to make whatever comments she wants, and her employer can't stop her, but her employer can fire her.

---
She has a history of making controversial comments, this one seems to be the one that did her in. What I can't figure is how she landed the job as PR Executive with such lack of judgement.

She should be promoted and moved into the marketing department. One tweet and a load of people discussing a load of companies I have never heard of. Genius.

Re: PR executive makes dumb comment.

I saw her Twitter feed before she deleted it and she came across as insensitive and arrogant. Lots of moaning and bitchy comments generally

The daft thing was that her Twitter profile said she as 'corpcomms for IAC' so she was idiotic to comment as she did whilst associating herself with a company. She should have known better, especially in her line of work.

I have a couple of work-related Twitter accounts and I watch what I say, as to post as she did is unprofessional. If you want to speak totally freely, then you need to do it personally and in a way that does not impact or reflect on who you work for or your business. You'd think that was common sense really.

I believe that before she got off her flight and knew what was going on, someone had registered the domain name of www.justinesacco.cm which linked straight to an African Aids website. :) (No idea if that's mentioned in the Fail article as I won't read that crap.)

Does make you wonder how she ended up in PR though. Then again I know people in many different industries who are entirely unsuitable for their jobs. That's ultimately the fault of whoever hired them.

Some of her previous tweets:

In February 2012 Sacco had Tweeted: 'I had a sex dream about an autistic kid last night.'

Sacco wrote wrote: 'I can't be fired for things I say while intoxicated right?'

Sacco also wrote: 'I like animals, but when it's this cold out I'll skin one myself for the fur' and tweeted the comment directly at PETA, a famous animal rights organization.

The Tulane alum also tweeted: 'Last day of hurricane season. Can't wait for evacuations next year.'

Ironically enough, Tulane is located in New Orleans, a city in which more than half of the population is black, according to infoplease.com.

New Orleans also suffered tremendously after Hurricane Katrina decimated homes, took several lives, and wrecked the local economy
