I know it's not fashionable to praise CNN but their Middle East blog always seems to me to be balanced and objective. Many local contributors, along with regular stuff from the excellent Hala Gorani.......... and always some stunning photos..... like now for instance...... (link below)

maybe fighting israel was for a reason but fighting their own government is for the sake of syria and iran.
