Default Poll on % of Salary on Rent

I am interested in knowing what % of total salary people typically spend on rent.

It's difficult to answer here as alot of people get a housing allowance. In our case, we got an allowance but then that was ignored completely and we werre given company accommodation. So 0% is spent effectively.

Don't you just add the allowance to the salary, deem the new number as 'salary' and then do the pct. thing?

He is an Engineer. No point in asking him to expand upon that as the answer would be incomprehensible.

The company pays my rent....but if the rent and salary are combined, the rent is 34% of the total

I pay myself, though company do loan me the money interest free. I pay less than 7.5% of my salary in rent.

even though ours is strictly speaking mixed up in the "allowance" part of the salary, it represents about 20% of the money that comes in (new rent = RESULT!!)... in 2008 it was 50% of the same salary.
