Default Paris, What's going on?

Like you all, waking up to the news of the Paris Attacks was shocking

Paris attacks: Bataclan and other assaults leave many dead - BBC News

So so far I've got.

Attacks in 6 different locations around Paris
150+ dead
Suicide bomber at Football match
Gunman at cafe/restaurant
2 gunmen take hostages at concert (both gunmen killed in siege)
Feared maybe up to 150+ dead in all combined attacks

France will now seal all boarders...As most are now in Germany, time to reinstate the Maginot Line!

Well, I hope that this is a "this is enough" moment. The UK and EU needs to pass more terror laws to give the state the freedom to protect the people at it sees fit.

Which is kind of the opposite of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted (it's got to be done, but it's too late). How many terrorists are among the 500,000 refugees accepted by Germany, for example?

We can't even pass laws that allow the authorities to see what we've been doing on the internet, without getting a judge involved on a case-by-case basis. **** all that, personal privacy goes out of the window in exchange for having a reasonable chance to root this out; bugging, random searches, close monitoring of mosques, ejection of anyone promoting fanaticism, harsh measures to stop radicalisation in prisons ...

Thats the scary thing, the EU has just let in a large amount of people without any checks.

Scary times ahead for EU.

This is exactly what is needed - it'll come but slowly. We need to allow the government to enter, stop and search, imprison and if needed torture. Much like what happens pretty much anywhere else - inside the law or otherwise.

It won't happen though.

I keep on saying again and again, you guys have too many bloody H&S rules /people for your own good.
You cannot have good intelligence while tip toeing around peoples' feelings.
Send some of your MI5 boys over to the ISI to gain some insights.
A tragic series of events indeed but this is what life is like for ordinary citizens in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and so many other places in the world. Waking up with fear, checking in that your loved ones are alright every time you hear the news of another attack and trying to ignore the fact that death just comes closer to you each time...taking your colleagues, your friends, your neighbors and your family.

When I read it this morning, I was just gutted for the french people. Charlie attacks was only 10 months ago.

Without putting "boots to ground" how can we fix this mess.

Apparently a couple of nukes is to extreme..

Edit this year we have had

It's the enemy within that needs dealing with first; two of those on the list were avoidable.

I wonder if there will be another je suis campaign. Or if this time there will be anger at the Muslim community to get this all sorted.

I don't know, but more worryingly neither do the Germans. Most will be those arriving as children and teenagers today who will become disillusioned and "radicalized" 10-15 years from now.

All of the above, and more, is necessary. Little or none of it will be implemented. Far too little will be done to stop it happening again.

Yup, this!

As a starting point, maybe the Israeli approach to suicide bombers might focus a few minds. If your son or daughter enters Israel and kills people, the Israelis go to their home and destroy everything - flatten the house entirely. It should probably be extended to the Mosque the perp attended.

I do agree on hope this is the straw that broke the camel's back sentiment but I don't agree on just handing over more powers to government.
