Am sure if that was your sister or daughter it wouldn't provoke such frivolous comments...

Ah, but without wishing to appear frivolous, 'apparently' the security guard logged the taxi in and then out just 10 minutes later.

Sorry, this latest 'exclusive' comes from the letters page of that much esteemed and respected instrument of journalism .............................. 7days

Oh well, says a lot about me doesn't it. Rhetorical question so no ? required.

Read far too much of the Daily Mail (it's such fun), the Telegraph (ditto), The Times (well, they do some decent reporting), The Grauniad (always good for a laugh), Gulf News (least said the better), The National (perhaps the best regional English language paper IMO). And also a handful of news wire services - helps to give a more 'rounded' news experience:rofl:

Oh yes, and watch BBC News, Sky News, very occasionally CNN Live (what a liberating experience that is).

All this in the hope that I can bring a bit of value added news to this forum occasionally ... hope you appreciate my sacrifices:lol:

I've just heard too many stories of women getting raped, molested and even killed here to crack jokes about it...maybe I'm getting all sour and old.

Even if she was completely drunk and offering herself she didn't deserve to be raped. Some women are completely irresponsible and do stupid things here they wouldn't even do in their home countries and they unfortunately pay the price.

But the rapist arseholes should still be flogged and beaten and sentenced to hard labour for a decade. Of course in this country your punishment is directly related to your passport, religion and wasta :frown:

If she really was "offering herself" (however drunk she may have been), it wasn't rape, surely?

There are so many inconsistencies in all of this that I doubt if anyone will be convicted of anything. He waited until he had parked his taxi directly in front of her villa? If she was that drunk, he could have driven her to a darker, quieter spot, surely?

There were 'no signs of assault on the woman', but 'her trousers were inside out'?

Something not quite right here...............

To be honest who can really say...especially with the way things are reported here.

Makes you wonder why she would accuse him of raping her though if she had offered herself? Were there signs of intercourse...rape isn't always forced - people are drugged or intoxicated and get raped and rarely are able to put up a fight or really know what's going on.

Whatever happened it will be more fuel for the "look at these horrible drunk western women harlots tempting our men" fire which is increasing here all the time. :frown:

Agreed

Who knows what to believe, as it seems that the police etc are biased.

As for your last paragraph, are local men so weak and led by their penises that they cannot bear to see a woman's ankle without leaping on her?
