Default Pajeros..I know some of you love them

For those of you that have had them for a while....

1) How often do you replace the tyres
2) How often are the brake pads replaced? Or do they just need to be skimmed periodically

I know it's not an exact science, but if anyone has any experience, please do let me know.

Cheers in advance

I have one. had it 6 mths, done 2000km.

It's crap.

It's done 80km - and the tyres have been changed once and brakes skimmed once (i think)

Thanks for the info. Just trying to offload mine and it's just coming up to it's 34km service, no problems so far. Just don't want buyers making me pay for bits that don't need doing.

Besides, the missus drives it so it doesn't go very far....or fast.

You're supposed to replace the tyres every two years, I think. Three years back home but the heat is bad for the rubber out here.

As for 2) no idea.

Bought ours new in October 2007. Serviced as per schedule by the dealer and now on about 53,000kms. I had the tyres checked last week and was told they would need replacing in about 10,000kms. No issues whatsoever with the brakes.

That comment about tyres lasting two years here is news to me - and surely it would be in the dealer/tyre shop's interests to recommend early replacement if it were true?

Last time I took my car in for a service I was told that tyres have to be replaced every three years irrespective of mileage due to the heat, otherwise it won't get through re-registration.

They have a special word for them in Spain, so no one drives them.

I'd been recommended to get a Pajero, cheap to get fixed if they go wrong and pretty safe, any other recommendations for a single gal about town? I had fancied a little mini but just think I'd get squashed the first time I go onto SZR and also they are expensive to get fixed, any recommendations on whats affordable, holds it value and is not too big but big enough not to get run off the road?

Cheers

As much as I slate Pajeros, I do own one and would recommend that they are a good thing to buy over here. It's built quite well and you can off-load them easily. All the bits work on mine.

I only hate mine as it's so grossly underpowered. Other than that, it's actually a really fun car that loves to jump over curbs and things. I also take it into the desert from time to time where it reasonable.

I have the 2 door version. Looks like a hairdressers car.
