Default OSN Problems

I moved into my current apartment a month or so back. OSN came round, set up the system (using the building's communal satellite dish—or at least I think so: the technician merely plugged the cable into the socket in the wall), and everything was tickety-boo.

Couple of days ago reception became crap, could only see a few channels. Then went to nothing. Called OSN, they talked me through some diagnostics: basically no signal whatsoever being received.

Technician came and fiddled, and said that the adjacent building was blocking the signal, and the only option was to get a new dish. I live on the 44th floor, and the building is some 80 stories high. Technician left having made no improvement.

However, I can now get a few channels, but most I cannot get and there is a symbol indicating no signal.

I haven't yet spoken to my building's manager, but was just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this before I do battle.

Thanks

(And yeah, I shouldn't be on my fat arse watching TV, but the family's out here at the moment and they want to chill…)

There's a song about that. Yeah, and I don't like heights. But its ok.

Seems like the building maintenance people had done something with the communal dish--working ok now. Not that there's much worth watching, will ditch it when the family leaves.

11,000 in a little over three years. That's quite a lot Spugs. I thought my count was high.

I think the guy is pulling your dongle? If your building is 80 floors high then there must be very few buildings overlooking yours. Plus satellites are up in the sky hence the dishes point up! Even Nilesat which is one of the lowest (in the sky) of the common ones here is about 20 degrees above the horizon. I would get the building owner to check out the communal system........
