Thought the same last night when I saw it. I thought complaining about an unfair advantage was rich coming from him after what able bodied athletes have said about him....

I don't get why he can compete in both games for starters (haven't read anything explaining why to be honest)...

But his attitude just stinks in general.

He didn't beat any of the guys with legs so he doesn't really have an advantage.
He may or may not have a point in regards to blade length. Blades can be of various lengths so there is opportunity there for unfair advantage, unlike with legs where it is all natural thus no opportunity to modify the length.

He has beaten many able bodied people in the past though, he has several African silvers and a World silver from Deigu?

He has now apologised, he has obviously realised that people now see him as a moaning arse.

Could Oscar Pistorius wear longer running blades himself if he thought they gave a runner an advantage? No, explains my colleague Andy Bull:

It is the very fact Pistorius wants to run in the Olympics and other able-bodied competitions that cost him here.

To do crossover like that, he can only run on blades that have been cleared for use by the IAAF, the sport's governing body. Longer blades, of the kind Oliveira used, are only legal in Paralympic events.

If Pistorius switched, he would not be able to run in non-disabled competitions. Besides which, he would undermine his own argument that his success is about the body above the knee, rather than the technology below it. In a sense, he is a victim of his own ambition.

Andy also points out that if Pistorius had run the race in the world-record-breaking time of 21.3sec he set in the semi-finals he would have beaten Alan Oliveira (who ran the final in 21.45sec) easily.

Pistorius and Oliveira will race again in the T44 100m (round one 7.01pm on Wednesday, final 9.16pm on Thursday) and the T44 400m (round one on Friday at 9.20pm, final on Saturday at 9.36pm).

Didn't realise that.

That's probably the perfect thing to shut him up. You could have beaten him, but didn't run quick enough.

As I wrote elsewhere - he shouldn't have chosen to run in both tournaments.

Tanni Grey-Thompson wrote a very good piece on this, pointing out that as he has run in the main Olympics, the Paralympics then becomes a devalued tournament, only providing competition for those who 'aren't good enough' for the main event.

To be fair though, all the fuss about whether he has an advantage in the main event could be easily settled by simply counting his strides - if he takes the same number as someone of similar height, he doesn't. If he takes fewer, he does. His time is irrelevant. Has anyone ever done this?

I readily confess I am not inclined towards 'imperfection'.
Forgive me,there are some events I cannot watch.
However I realize now,it is me who falls short of perfect in spite of all the lucky strikes I cashed in on by just being born and matching the checklist.
Awesome people,I am humbled..

I go back to my original point........... the moment he entered the 'main' Olympics, and did reasonably well without coming close to medal success, the Paralympics became a tournament for those not good enough for the main event....... which is silly, as we have seen from some breathtaking performances in all sorts of sports in the last fortnight.

Big mistake, Oscar - your ego had a point to prove. Your body had nothing to prove to anyone. Still, I'll always remember you as the guy who finished last in the 400m semi-finals at the 2012 Olympics........ :unsure:
