Only 1 in 70 Dubai drivers avoided a fine last year!
Just 1 per cent of drivers in Dubai managed to keep a clean sheet last year by avoiding any traffic fines.
New statistics from Dubai Traffic Police revealed that out of 1.3 million motorists on the emirate’s roads, only 18,000 kept a clean licence – about one in 70. http://7daysindubai.com/just-one-in-...-in-2014/59145 Clucking bell only 18,000 people did not get a ticket!!! Of course I shall be very sanctimonious and holier than thou art because I was 1 of those 18,000 (thanks to cruise control). Although I popped my cherry earlier this year (3 years ticket free). So come on, who are the bad boys out here? Who claims the biggest fine and black points? |

Hhhhmmmm, so out of the 18,000 3 are members of this forum. Something odd there.

have had years with none but usually average a couple of speeding tickets a year. usually at random bits of road with unusually low limits, ie jebel ali to DIP road got me last year in the 80Km/hr stretch.

One 200dhs fine in nearly 9 years of motoring

Re: Only 1 in 70 Dubai drivers avoided a fine last year!
I've just renewed my reg and only had to pay one.
Years before it was quite a few. I'm suspicious of people who say they haven't got any in years. They must be sat in the second furthest out lane doing 90. |

It's less useful if you're driving on some random shitty little desert road where the limit drops to 90 randomly. I've got about 10 this year. In all but one case, doing something like 21-23 over the limit and being caught by roads dropping the speed limits. Only one time was I clocked properly speeding - 158 or something, again on a desert road in the middle of nowhere. |

I would imagine my total from 2010 through to 2013 to be in the region of 10,000 AED and the 24 points. Had a ticket here and there since then. |

I had my license taken away from me for 90days and my car for 60 days. 2 instances of 12 black points in about a week.

I just checked my file.
Seven speeding fines, one phone fine, and one dangerous driving fine. The last one was given to me in order to facilitate an insurance claim for some damage done to the FJ while dune bashing. |
Re: Only 1 in 70 Dubai drivers avoided a fine last year!
Currently got 2 salik fines outstanding (60 dhs each)
Normally around 1 or 2 speeding fines per year (always getting caught on 60-80 km/h stretches of roads). Never received a speeding ticket on a road with 100/120 limits. |
Re: Only 1 in 70 Dubai drivers avoided a fine last year!
So are some of these roads that have sudden drops in the speed limit an excuse to fine people/pad the government coffers?
