One way to get rid of persistent callers
You might want to try this for some ideas...
Seems to be a very slow link so this also works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=rBfsdkGeMc8

I think you've got to have a certain type of voice, and some pretty big balls to pull that off.

Just tell them straight away that you deal with me and put the phone down.
Or get a whistle and blow that down the phone. Or maybe tell them you are about to be sent to jail for bad debts. Or that you only have a week to live.

Someone added me on linked in then told me she worked for a bloke who works for the same company as you and could she call me.

Is everyone aware that you can unlink on LinkedIn? A relatively easy way to get rid of people who bother you. Also watch out for a load of fake accounts on there. Many have just one job listed and claim to work in HR. If you google them, their photo and name do not match.

Re: One way to get rid of persistent callers
Deeeveer called me today. Brilliant
Gareth - 'Hi, I'm Gareth from ****, how are you today, Millhouse?'
Millhouse - 'I'm fine, thanks. You?'
Gareth <laughs> 'Yeh, I'm good thanks. Really well, you know, sun always shines here doesn't it.'
Millhouse (who has just done an overnight flight) 'I guess so, yes. Sorry, where are you calling from again?'
Gareth - '**** Have you heard of us, do you know what we do?'
Millhouse - 'Yeh, I've heard of you.'
Gareth 'Great! then you will... '
Millhouse (cuts in) 'I've pretty much only heard all the bad press though'
Gareth <laughs> ' really? well yes, we do get that sometimes - I'm not sure why though... can I ask what you've heard'
Millhouse 'Well, basically that you are a bunch of scumbags'
Gareth < nervous laugh> 'Well, it's not really like that. We offer ...<start of sales speech>'
Millhouse - cuts in - 'mate, I'm not interested and there is nothing you can say that will change that, in fact can I...'
Clunk. He cut me off in full flow. Bastard - I was just about to go into a Nigel Farage rant.

Re: One way to get rid of persistent callers
Why don't you play Lauren Devine's "This is how we do Dubai" down the phone to her.... LOUDLY? - I know I felt mildly sick after two seconds of listening to it - Guaranteed to have your persistent caller slam down the phone like its made of rubber!
