Well, the Wikipedia entry says he moved to England from Somaliland (formerly British Somalia) when he was eight - quite a few years before he began winning races. He was married in 2010 to a girl who I suppose is English, and has three children by her. I think he can be considered a genuine Brit, by now.

Re: The Olympics Thread
In no way is he a genuine Brit. Did his grandparents fight in WW1 or WW2? No. They were chilling by the beaches in Africa. He was only allowed to claim a British passport because his grandmother was a refugee and had his father born London. (I still dispute this). What your saying is, in current times if an Afghani refugee had a child born in the UK, then the next generation was born back in Afghanistan, the child would be British. Jog on. Lets give passports to everyone!!!
Anyway, outside of that congratulation on the double, one of the best Olympic athletes for sure. He's made his home country, Somalia proud.

Is Iggle a British name, even a British nickname? Are you a British person unto the seventh generation? (If so, well, hmm, all I can say, in my poshest accent, is "Well done old chap!")
