I know this sounds like it should be a EW question but whatever!
Do you wash new clothes before you wear them? Is it a cultural thing as seems everyone in my office does apart from the english. And everyone washes their underwear before they wear them as they dont know whos tried them on beforehand/been handling them etc. I can honestly say this had never crossed my mind before but i like new clothes all pressed perfectly, perfect colour etc seems a shame to wash them before wearing them. Am I the only one who hasnt been washing them?

I don't either (eek!)... and I share your feelings about wonderfully pressed brand new clothes. I know full well that that's pretty much the only time they'll be ironed!

I don't wash new clothes, I used to wash some baby stuff before she wore it though and all her new baby stuff I did wash. Atilla wants his new shirts washing before he wears them as they are creased etc. A bigger problem is keeping whites white, currently using this clorox whitening thing but I can see no difference

Wash only with other white stuff on a cotton (long) cycle with loads of detergent and hang them inside in the bathroom, don't dry them in the dryer or hang them in the dust. I only bother to do this with business shirts and the girls nice crisp party dresses.

They drip dry and don't get any dust or anything penetrate the fabric. I used to live in North Western Australia where the dust is red and if you hang out your whites they would always have a red tinge, Dubai is the same, the dust penetrates the fabric when they're hung outside and the white always looks dirty.

I always wash (or at least cause them to be washed) ALL new clothes before wearing them.
