Not Messing About
Six men from the West Midlands have been jailed for up to 19-and-a-half years each for planning to bomb an English Defence League rally.
At the Old Bailey, Khan, Uddin and Ahmed were sentenced to 19-and-a-half years in jail, with a five-year extension on licence.
Hasseen, Hussain and Saud were jailed for 18 years and nine months, with a five-year extension on licence.
Extended sentences, introduced in England and Wales last year, mean offenders serve at least two-thirds of their main sentence in custody. After release, they are on licence in the community for the rest of their sentence plus the extension part.
Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale said the men had planned "a horrendous attack".
The six defendants received a reduction of a quarter in their jail terms for pleading guilty before a trial had been due to start.
EDL leader Tommy Robinson and his deputy Kevin Carroll called out "God save the Queen" from the public gallery as sentence was passed.
Sobs could be heard from other observers, and shouts of " Allahu Akbar" - "God is great" in Arabic.

Suitably harsh sentences, but I can't actually get head round the reduction for pleading guilty--if there had been genuine remorse and an admission that what they had planned was wrong, then fair enough, but (albeit without knowing all the facts) merely admitting that that's what they had planned to do doesn't warrant a shorter sentence.

What I really like about this story is why they failed: they got there too late.

The UAF are dribbling right now saying Tommy just got hammered on the BBC Asian Network, after the Free Speech programme.
I watched the latter though, I think the behaviour of everyone ranting at him was despicable. It's pretty obvious (historically) why the socialists use illegitimate means to hammer down fascists before they grow in strength though, they end up losing.

Really what is going on? Has everyone just gone mad? I really don't understand why people can't live and let live, black , white, muslim, christian- it's all such bullshit. Can't everyone have a nice hug, smoke some weed and chill out?
The fact they were caught by chance is worrying, so if they had paid their insurance they wouldn't have been caught. Somewhat ironic that I feel safer here in a muslim country than in the UK.
