Loved Joey Barton's tackle on him - but he got the last laugh by scoring the winning penalty in the shoot-out for AC Milan.
Fair play to him too for coming knowing he'd get torrents of abuse, my admiration for him went up marginally...

Indeed, he was always second choice (or worse), yet stayed there for 20 years? Personally I think he was happy with his lot and didn't have the balls to try to be at the very top of the game.
