not everything that's French sucks

True...but it wasn't a historical documentary but an entertainment movie. Some MSPs in the Scots Parliament have asked for his letter of free passage from the Pope to be returned to Edinburgh...he had it on him just before he was butchered for being a 'traitor', which couldn't be the case seeing he never swore allegiance to the King of England !

Well...the writer of Braveheart, Randall Wallace visited Edinburgh Castle and asked about the two recessed statues either side of the main gate of the castle...Robert The Bruce and William Wallace. He was very interested in his namesake and read up on Wallace. Mel Gibson later got involved and eventually made the film. Gibson couldn't understand why a such film had never been made before. Simple, the British Film industry is located in London, and the English would never make a film that puts them in bad light...so it took an American-cum-Australian to do it.
Scotland doesn't have the cash to make its own period and historical films...but one day...

I don't believe there has been a big budget movie about the Scottish invasion of England which ended in the Battle of Flodden Field.
