Default Nightclub patronising youngsters shut down

Gulf News

Now I know it has two meanings but I do think GN could have used a different verb!

I initially read it as the staff being patronising to the clubbers.

''The official said many parents had expressed the view that teenagers were better off engaged in activities such as arts, sports and social service rather than frequenting nightclubs.''

I'm sure the teenagers will love that..... the arts you say.... hmmm.

''A Pakistani mother of two, who works as a teacher, said she was shocked when she saw schoolgirls as young as 10 and 13 discussing the nightclub where they were handed a green wristband and encouraged to find a boyfriend, whereupon they would be given a red one to show they had found a partner.''

Flash backs of traffic light parties in the University Union..... not always good flash backs either!

Or, the youngsters themselves were shut down. Many a parent wishes in the deep, dark depths for an Off button
