[QUOTE=britexpat76;10570453]What business function for Mannai? I am glad to hear you have been before, Had this horrible thought you were arriving with the family having never been. That is one way for the Mrs to last 3 weeks.............I always recommend the person with the job comes over and feathers the nest for a smoother transition for the partner - Or to make sure you are staying here before uprooting others.[/QUOTE

if I hadn't been before I think it wouldn't be worth putting the passport in for the resident visa, it could be that quick. the intention is to rent a short term apartment for 3 months while we find a villa. the short term apartment is proving difficult for sensible money.

any help with mother and baby groups as my biggest concern is my wife hates it and we end up flying home after 3 weeks.

I was looking at these http://www.century21qatar.com/index....d=326&Itemid=9
I was looking at Mirage but all of there short term apartments are full.
the problem seems to be the renting for 3 months whilst we find a villa. one of the hotel apartments was 25k, and on trip advisor Ezdan doesn't make good reading

Avoid Agents mate. Wait until you get on the ground and I will point you in the right direction. Trying to do anything from afar here never works.

Is your employer not providing you with accommodation for a few weeks to get you started? That's a pretty poor show.

As meow said, it is the norm here for companies to provide 1-3 months accomodation while you settle in. If this is not the case and you are paying look at a serviced apartment initially. It will cost more but you can then find somewhere and check it out personally. Trust no one here when it comes to property.

Hi just to introduce myself seeing as I'm already picking brains.

I am an old broad who is profoundly deaf, if you tell me I can't do something because I'm deaf I have to prove you wrong I have been a nurse since I was 18 ended up a respiratory specialist. I Have a full motorbike license, paint oil paintings (I'm crap but some people buy them??) carve wood and pyro wood oh loads of crafts.

I am useless at quizzes as I'm always three questions behind but I'm great at organising.
The OH whose visa it will be is brilliant at quizzes he has a trivial mind

we are not definitely coming, he is still in the selection process we currently live in Australia but need to be a bit nearer the UK due to family health problems. So when he was approached through linkedin we thought why not it could be fun!
