Re: Newbies....Introduce yourselves to the ME crowd
really...? i wasn't, it's very much style over substance...i had great hopes for the cheese section, for example, but it pretty much only had what you can get elsewhere (ie not much) and worse still, when i asked whether they had pont l'eveque or epoisses, the "cheese specialist" said no but they did have brie...i'm like, err but that's nothing like those cheeses, i'll leave it thanks...

We do have a large menu selection and a good selection of retail items but if there is anything you would like to see in the store then by all means let me know and I will do my best. Imported goods can take some time to arrive though so the more notice the better.
Feel free to drop me a pm with any requirements. I look after all outside catering events and home delivery but I will certainly help with any other requests. You can also ask for me if you visit the store and I will come and meet you.

We always welcome feedback of all types, good and bad. I have had a word with our buyers on your behalf and they will try to source those cheeses for you. I'll let you know if we can get them for you as soon as I hear further.

ok, thanks, those are two cheeses of many more i'd like to see here, lol...however, maybe i wasn't so clear, it was the fact that the guy in charge of that section really didn't know his suff at all, rather than the cheeses weren't in stock...so it didn't give me any confidence to go back...

Re: Newbies....Introduce yourselves to the ME crowd
Moving from Bonnie Scotland to U.A.E in February, will be residing in the lovely city of Al Ain - for the forseeable future. Thought I would post this and introduce myself.

Re: Newbies....Introduce yourselves to the ME crowd
Hello everyone - I've been an entertained lurker for many months having moved to Dubai with my husband 18 months back (time flies!). Thought it high time to sign up and join in the fun.
About us? We're British, we both work full time, no chicklets (yet) and life here for us is generally a ball!!
Look forward to joining in on other threads where maybe I can contribute or maybe ask some daft questions (after thoroughly searching the answer first of course!).
Happy Saturday!

Re: Newbies....Introduce yourselves to the ME crowd
Hi,
My name is Gary from North West England and Its freezing here too !! I'm due to start a 12 month contract role in Manama with Amex, looking forward to seeing Bahrain and sampling its culture.
Leaving the family in the UK for the short term, they will be over in the summer. Big Footy fan, like to socialise and see different places (and drinks ) Not bad at the old pub quiz either.
I'm a bit of a quandry at the moment however, please see my question below. I apologise in advance if I'm not suppose to post my question with my introduction ........
Workers Accommodation in Manama, Bahrain
Hi to all. i have just found this forum and hope somebody can help me.
Im still in the UK at the moment but i have been offered a 12 month contract role with American Express in Manama, I am truly looking forward to coming to Bahrain and working in what looks like a truly fantastic country and culture. I'am due to arrive on the 21st of Feb.
My question is this: American express have recommended some hotels for me to stay in (Gulf Hotel, Sheraton, Mecure etc) but the rates for the rooms are truly staggering and far to expensive (I would be spending just about all my wages on hotel bills) .......I was hoping that someone could recommend a workers hotel or apartments that are reasonable and maybe are better tailored for workers staying on a 12 month contract ??
I will be going back to Amex to see if they can recommend something more reasonable in the meantime I thought that maybe someone could advise/help !!
Is anyone else in the same boat ??
Does anyone want to rent a room out ?
I really hope that someone can help otherwise I may have to turn the role down and I really want to take this opportunity to work in Bahrain.
Many Thanks.
