A new word a day
Inspired by the youtube video of the girl with the big boobs teaching one japanese word a day I thought it could kinda work on here.- minus the video and the girl with the big boobs.
So can we learn one arabic word a day please- I know some of the regulars on here speak a certain ammount so am sure we can all learn something. If we can have it idiot proof please eg; Shukran Pronounced as shook_ran Meaning- thank you anyone else interested? xxx |

(not sure if spelt right) I do not speak Arabic! The Arabic Alphabet is actually quite easy to deal with. It is also 100% Phonetic, and almost impossible to make a spelling mistake. Also no Capital Letters which should suit a lot of people here! There are Starting Characters, Intermediate Characters, and End Characters to deal with, but it is quite simple - Only three vowels too! |

As I said earlier, it is very simple, and once you have the basics, you will start to question various words. For instance Arabic does not have a letter 'P' so you will see signs for 'Bebsi Kola!' Farsi has introduced a 'P' and lots of younger Arabic Speakers use it too. The place name of Sharjah also has several different spellings. Sometimes it is 'Al Sharzah' or can be 'Al Sharkah.' :Haldiyatah Jumah: (Quiet Friday) I have a little book of Hindi, Arabic, Tagalog, and Russian Phrases if you are interested? Most are derived from working here in Dubai, and working in a 'Spirit of Cooperation!' - I hope now that you can see where I was coming from, especially with the inane 'American Comments!' - Some of us do try! We are not sat back in North Carolina wondering if the 'Middle East is somewhere just outside Boston!' |
