Re: New Prime Minister (and Labour leader)
First MP to be called to No 10 is Phillip Hammond, strong rumours that he will be moving into No 11 as Chancellor.

Seems very likely.
Wonder if Georgie Boy is going to the Foreign Office? If he isn't offered the FO then he's not in the Cabinet. He must be sweating bullets at the moment.
Wonder who will lead the new Brexit ministry. The selection will say much about May's vision for the withdrawal.

And BoJo is Foreign Secretary. Who would have thought!
Georgie boy is out of government, so it seems. He was a good chancellor but May must have realised he was too toxic to the constituencies she's going after. And too close to Cameron and she's clearly aiming for a clean break.

RINOs. Remain In Name Only
But it's Labour we must watch with popcorn
The Northern Labour heartlands voted for Brexit. What does that leave Labour with at the next GE? If they select candidates who refuse to support Theresa May's EU withdrawal, or even openly criticise it, will they be punished?
Tories have had their issues but look at how rapidly the party is coalescing and moving fast towards a post-Brexit future as the only credible governing party. Their civil war is over. The Eurosceptics won and the Europhiles lost. But they were still capable enough of putting forward the best leader regardless of her origin on the losing side, and she's already firing whopping big cannonballs into once safe Labour fiefdoms with that speech of hers tonight.
Poor Labour. Their base is now permanently split between the traditional pro British, anti EU working classes, and the global-minded metropolitan voters and ethnic minorities. I don't know if the two can ever be accommodated under the same party again. Dark days ahead. Dark, dark days. They may never recover just as the Liberals never did.

You know how bad things are for Labour when Toynbee is forced to churn out a half-decent commentary:

The Scottish question is indeed a question but I have a sneaking suspicion that it'll be exactly that for a very long time, perhaps permanently

For those who haven't been paying attention:
David Davis is Secretary of State for Brexit, a new division. He was a Brexiteer. Liam Fox (another Brexiteer) is at Trade. With BoJo at FO all international positions occupied by Brexiteers the EU is going to be very happy
We are definitely leaving, no ifs and buts. My guess is that May is using Johnson to distract people while her pet sharks, Davis and Fox, circle the waters around Brussels and go in for the kill when least expected.

It's all very interesting, not all good in my personal view, but fascinating to observers.
Is BoJo as Foreign Secretary high level trolling? The man went to the Prince Philip School of Political Diplomacy and his previous comments will be dragged up every time he goes somewhere. The jokes on social media, Twitter in particular, at his expense last night were funny and you have to find the humour in times like this.
Labour is in the biggest mess we have seen since the early 80's. I do hope they can get themselves in some kind of shape as I think it's important to have a proper opposition. As for the LibDems, where are they? Particularly disappointing to me as I am naturally aligned with them.
I watch with interest and not a little trepidation.

Good point on Labour needing to sort their ship out and provide some actual opposition. Is Corbyn able to do that? It doesn't appear so...
As for the Lib Dems, "Where are they" seems completely correct. After success of getting to the coalition they've just disappeared and crumbled it seems.
