New Prime Minister (and Labour leader)

Who will the PM be? May or Johnson? Johnson has larger public appeal for a GE but May is apparently slightly preferred within the party membership, not to mention the MPs.

Labour leader? Will Corbyn hold on? If not, who will replace him? Yvette Cooper?

Regardless of the Labour leader I can't see the party in a position to battle the Tories effectively because whoever they select will likely have difficulties accepting the post-Brexit reality and that will continue to hurt the party among the Northern voters who voted to leave. I also think Labour will haemorrhage many middle class liberals to the LibDems who are committed to returning to the EU. So the left is effectively divided and conquered for the time being.

Here's a potential scenario:

May is elected but makes movements towards a Norway style relationship with the EU with minimal restriction on immigration in order to save access to the single market. Labour, of course, won't adopt any position that restricts immigration, while many middle class New Labourites switch to the Lib Dems. Working class Leave voters hugely back UKIP, allowing the party to gain a number of new MPs, especially in the North. The Tories can only govern with the support of the UKIP MPs in a coalition. They veto any attempt at a Norway style arrangement with the EU. End of the day, we are faced with no choice but a complete withdrawal from the EU.

This, of course, is dependent on May (or Johnson) calling a GE at some point before the Article 50 process is complete. Which they may not, for this very reason.

The only thing I can be sure of is that I'm going to gain at least a stone in the next few years from all the popcorn I'll be munching. ;)

BoJo has to be the new PM with Gove as Deputy and Chancellor or Foreign Secretary. It would be simply unacceptable that a pro remain candidate won.

As for Labour, the Blairites have been ganging up on Corbyn since he was made leader, I guess the process is the same so he could still win as he has the grassroots? I do hope so.

Labour, without Scotland MPs - and they will get independence, are pretty much unelectable anyway.

BoJo for 4mths before he gets fired, then a General Election. And I then pray Kwasi Kwarteng comes to the front to put sense to it all.

My feelings on the subject - It's a joke, not a dick. Don't take it so hard.

What I genuinely don't understand is how Corbyn can be so stubborn?

I think he is brilliant. He's like an old drunk uncle who refuses to leave the pub.

Why? The referendum had nothing to do with the overall performance of the current government - it was a simple binary question on one individual issue.

This is exactly why a lot of leave voters got it so utterly wrong and now feel like someone has taken a massive shit in their cornflakes.

Corbyn is a Stalinist mate , you only get rid of them by standing them up against a wall.

Pretend you are a Labour MP today by writing to your boss and telling him he's shit.

Read this somewhere :
So, let me get this straight... the leader of the opposition campaigned to stay but secretly wanted to leave, so his party held a non-binding vote to shame him into resigning so someone else could lead the campaign to ignore the result of the non-binding referendum which many people now think was just angry people trying to shame politicians into seeing they'd all done nothing to help them.

Meanwhile, the man who campaigned to leave because he hoped losing would help him win the leadership of his party, accidentally won and ruined any chance of leading because the man who thought he couldn't lose, did - but resigned before actually doing the thing the vote had been about. The man who'd always thought he'd lead next, campaigned so badly that everyone thought he was lying when he said the economy would crash - and he was, but it did, but he's not resigned, but, like the man who lost and the man who won, also now can't become leader. Which means the woman who quietly campaigned to stay but always said she wanted to leave is likely to become leader instead.

Which means she holds the same view as the leader of the opposition but for opposite reasons, but her party's view of this view is the opposite of the opposition's. And the opposition aren't yet opposing anything because the leader isn't listening to his party, who aren't listening to the country, who aren't listening to experts or possibly paying that much attention at all. However, none of their opponents actually want to be the one to do the thing that the vote was about, so there's not yet anything actually on the table to oppose anyway. And if no one ever does do the thing that most people asked them to do, it will be undemocratic and if any one ever does do it, it will be awful.

Clear?

Well Gove has just royally shafted Boris, I'll be surprised if Boris actually stands now.

Looks like Theresa May will win it.
