Why do people hate iTunes so much?

It can be a pain but it's not that bad is it?

The iPod Classic still has the biggest capacity for a "manageable" portable file player.

I just find it cumbersome when managing a relatively large music library (15,000 tracks), I'm sure if you were buying through iTunes it'd better, but as i'm not the whole process of adding and deleting tracks to iTunes, iPod and library is a pain. And as for changing names, finding duplicates...

I've downloaded Songbird as well and really need to start using it, only drawback being it doesn't (as far as I've noticed in a brief play with it) have a good podcast search interface, maybe (and hopefully am) wrong about that.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I've been looking around but capacity wise nothing else comes even close. And, while it does seem a little over top to need to have 160GB in yer pooch, I do like being able to have pretty much my whole music collection at my finger tips when travelling etc

I've been using macs for 20 years now, love them to pieces - but yeah, iTunes is total shit.

Ok seems when you backup without synching it hardly backs up anything - I have a mac at home, a mac at work and a lapptop which my iPod touch and iPad lnk into, so I NEVER synch anything.

Can I backup without synching then update system (on iPad now) and then restore?

that's not relatively large, that's ****ing huge! I've got +/- 4,500 tracks, which is enough to last +/- 13 days without a repeat! (will admit 90% I'll never listen to more than once!)

I upgraded lost nothing, but where are the 200 new features for the iPhone, found the iMessenger thing (very good), and a find friends thing, icons looks different etc but apart from that it seems much the same. Free apps in the app store reveal nothing new of note
