Re: New Apple iPhones then
Yes, you can only buy them over the counter (no online sales any more) and you have to activate them (read: buy an O2 contract) at the point of sale.
That said, a colleague bought an American 3G iPhone at MoE a few weeks ago. He paid... drum roll... 6000dhs

Hmmmm.... Hey Moddy! They are selling on the black market in Holland for about €75 a piece. And yes, sim lock free. T2 that got the contract from Apple in Holland is already calling them very, very hot potatoes which they are willing to dump at any price. Nokia shows 4 to 5 bars on the receiver? Iphone shows one or two if you are lucky. A bad, very bad investment according to the Yuppies here.

Re: New Apple iPhones then
Even in that monkey currency called the pound UK it's still over priced by at least 300%. Me and a few friends of mine actually tried it. My 4 year old, beaten up Nokia showed 5 bars on the receiver indication. Pulled out my Sim card, put it into Bill Gates absolute f**k up of the year called an Iphone. And what do I bloody get? Two bars on the receiver. Smack in the middle of Amsterdam? No reception at all! Broadband? WTF an old fashioned modem of 20+ years ago is faster then this piece of shit. No wonder they are being offered dirt cheap here. But? Graphic wise? It gives an unexperienced Yuppie a hard one, so I would say from a commercial point of view? Go for it....

Bill Gates absolute f**k up of the year
FWIW, I'm writing this on my 2G iPhone, which I like rather a lot

Monkey currency? It's still worth considerably more than the euro, the dollar or any of the Gulf currencies.
Dutchie, if you think Bill Gates runs Apple, I can't really take anything you say about the iPhone all that seriously

Re: New Apple iPhones then
So, Dutchie, does GJP stand for anything else?
Like BMW stands for "binned by Mercedes" (in Dutch)?
een Amerikaanse vrouw.
PS, if I do a bank transfer, can I get a new iPhone 3G for 75 Euros?

Re: New Apple iPhones then
If you take a two year contract with T2 (a Dutch phone provider) you get the G3 for free. On the weekend markets here in Holland they are (legally) selling for € 40 to € 75 a piece, second hand that is. Why pay more per minute? Because I'm holding an Apple phone in my hand that doersn't live up to what it promises? (For Apple's broadband service you have to pay extra, that applies for Holland, can't speak about other countries) Google it most probably you'll find plenty of them.

Re: New Apple iPhones then
Dutchie, please calm down. If you don't like the iPhone 3G, nobody's holding a gun to your head forcing you to use it, are they? No need to get hysterical about it
BTW, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that what you said about the Bill Gates "joke" is true, and not just your way of trying to cover up the fact that you got Gates mixed up with Steve Jobs

Re: New Apple iPhones then
I'm not getting hysterical about anything, just wanted to give the advise "think twice about purchasing it". Nothing more, nothing less.
