Need a contact at Dubai Airport for airside clearance
Hopefully some one might have a suggestion on who or what department I can contact at Dubai Airport.
Basically I have a client that is sending equipment from Europe and it is in transit for a few hours at Dubai Airport. They want photographs taken of the equipment while in the aircraft while in transit at DXB.
I'll need clearance and permissions etc...
Anyone with any suggestions as a good place to start with this request?
(I am sensing a very long and frustrating Dubai paper chase)

I can't help with an answer, but am curious as to why they want photos of the equipment while it is in the aircraft at Dubai airport?

I'd think Mikewot would be a good place to start.

Auto, if it's in transit and going to remain on the same aircraft onwards to its final destination (actually highly unlikely), you would need your client, or your clients freight-forwarder to approach the airline and they would then approach the authorities. It shouldn't be that difficult.
If the equipment is going to be changing aircraft then you'll need permissions which will take a little longer.
Also depending on whether its DXB International (they are a pain in the backside) or Al Maktoum airport (they don't appear to give a toss)
Is it mandatory that it's actually you that takes the photos? Ie are they for publication? Or is it more to have evidence that the equipment hasn't been damaged so far during the transit from Europe?
If it's the latter, I can get these photos done for you.

Brains - thanks for the reply and the tips.
I'll find out more from the client (to be honest I think they are being a bit crazy thinking this will work out or that the photos will be any use...)
Thanks for now!

The request is unlikely to be granted. Why do they require this ? The MAN in DXB is SURE to ask this !!! Even before 9/11 a request like this would be routinely rejected on security grounds.

When do they fly in? I ask this because my pass took 2 months to come through and it was just a renewal.
As someone else stated you would probably need to discuss it with the airline first, alternatively the passes are issued via the police in the airport. I don't have an actual contact because the company I work for arrange it.
But if no one else can give you a contact I will ask some questions.
BTW the above relates to DXB not Jebel Ali.

The D.C.A grant airside permission and it's notoriously hard to get clearance . I couldn't get clearance as a contractor supplying concrete to their own Terminal project . Airside is very tightly controlled in any airport environment .
That's not to say you'll not get it but i would have thought the best bet would be someone working for maybe Emirates or a consulting engineer on a live project , you need the full kit & kaboodle to apply and the timescale could be anything from 4 days to never .

Re: Need a contact at Dubai Airport for airside clearance
Why not ask someone who already works there to take a couple of snaps, assuming they are able to access the aircraft, which is another feat in itself. I have access all airside areas but I would be dubious about attempting to enter an aircraft without any prior notification.
How would anyone know that the picture of the cargo inside the plane was at Dubai??
