National Day holiday

UAE National Day private sector holiday announced

Dubai: The Ministry of Labour has announced National Day holidays for the private sector.

Saturday November 30 will be a day off for workers at private sector companies that take a Friday weekend.

For those working for firms with a Friday-to-Saturday weekend, Sunday December 1 will be a day off.

Looks like it’ll be a day off on Sunday the 1st for most of us.

My interpretation is that private/non-government, who normally have a Friday and Saturday weekend, will get Sunday as well. Only government will get Sunday and Monday.

So, in answer to your question, no.

But National Day is the 2nd, not the 1st. Fireworks, driving hanging out of car windows etc all 2nd not 1st.

Come on now, what's that little minor detail got to do with anything? It's a local holiday for local people, and they're being suitably catered for so what's the issue...

It's ridiculous. What's next? Moving New Year's day to Thursday 2nd January as it's more convenient?

Proper new year is one of the fixed public holidays, in addition to Hijri new year.
