Muslim leader wants elements of sharia in Australia

The madness is slowly spreading.

But Dr Matthews said he was referring only to certain elements of family law and inheritance law and was not advocating the sharia penal system.

Yeah - that works really well here.

''I wasn't talking about sharia law in its entirety - we are not calling for the introduction of the penal system which calls for cutting off hands,'' he said

Oh good. That's sensible.

No, but they ain't kosher.

Shellfish eat dead matter, and therefore Jews, according t the Torah, are not allowed to eat them. Muslims are allowed, according to the Qur'aan.
As far as I have been told.

yeah, saw that. he also had a piece in the national a couple of days ago. reassuring but i have no doub that it will be ignored by the nutters anyway. i've not listened but apparetly its about 600 pages and already going into multiple translations. perhaps a good start even if it is about 1400 yrs too late, regardless it will be interesting to see what becomes of it and him over he next wee while

That's a little extreme to suggest that Islamic thought has been outmoded and outclassed by, one presumes you allude to, European culture for 1400 yrs...

History does not bear witness to your testament.

I would like to ask about inheritance laws actually. My husband has left everything to me and vice versa - a 'mirror will' I think they call it?

Our families are not even mentioned to be honest for our own personal reasons. But one of my Muslim colleagues said that in Islam inheritance laws are different and we should include his family?

He doesnt have anything to do with his religion or any contact with his family but I am wondering if God forbid the worst happened, could his family force me to give them money?

I think Australian law works in the way that the surviving partner gets everything so dont know how Sharia law would fit in anyway. But I would be mighty cross if anyone started to interfere with our personal affairs, in fact I would be furious.

In the event of both of our deaths, we have no kids so would leave it to charity.

Does anyone know if his family have any legal claim? Or my family for that matter.
