I think the bus company response was spot on.
They know these turkeys can be flexible in prayer timings and pray during breaks, they apparently provide the necessary time and facilities for them to do so. There is no problem.

This turkey was probably just trying to make a big deal for whatever reason.

If he was an air traffic controller he would also be fine as they do something like 90mins work between breaks....so prayer timings could fit in.

Anyone that takes their prayer outside their break time (be they bus driver, Air traffic controller or tandem parachute instructor) should be held in breach of their conditions and reprimanded...just as you or I would be for playing poker online during work hours.

I can bet however that, unlike us who would accept being sacked for doing non-work activities during work time, there would be a huge outcry in the muslim community if this guy was sacked for what is exactly the same thing.
Bus company response is just to hopefully make the issue go away.

He wouldn't get his way with this as a bus driver in a muslim country - certainly not in urban areas in the UAE, so how could he expect to have his way in a non-muslim country? Allowances can be made to pray either earlier or later than the prayer times. I am often in meetings that run into prayer times, and I always ask "do you want to stop and pray?". the answer is always no, and my colleagues usually pray immediately after it ends.

Typical and a bit sad but not surprising.
If i'd never lived in the middle east i'd have been a bit wary of what he was up to.

in fact...edit....if that happened to me on a bus next time I go to london i'd still be a bit wary. It's just odd to stop a bus and not say anything to anyone and just start praying....very very odd.
