Muscat short break

Hi everyone!

We have decided to take an impromptu short break (2 nights) to Muscat, leaving tomorrow. Tickets were booked last night, after a couple of bevvies of course.

So - in the next 12 hours or so does anyone have any recommendations they would like to share? My knowledge of Muscat comes from the Time Out Short Breaks guide to the region and a quick look on Trip Advisor so your wisdom will be gratefully received!

In particular we'd love some recommendations on a place with a view for a few drinks in the afternoon/evening, as well as some good restaurants for lunch and dinner. We will be staying at the Intercontinental.

Thank you :)

Best place for afternoon/evening drinks with a fabulous view is from the terrace at the Crowne Plaza - it's at the other end of as Shatti street from the Intercon. Three restaurants have terrace seating - Duke's Bar (pub type food but still good - great fish &chips, camel burger etc and this month a Black Angus steak promotion), Shiraz (Iranian) and Com Primo (Italian) - as well as indoor areas. It's definitely the best place IMHO to watch the sunset.

Enjoy yourselves.

Woodlands Indian Restaurant in Ruwi is good, and serves alcohol. Might be a bit of a trek from your hotel though.

There's a good, if a bit pricey, Curry House (serves alcohol too) not to far from where you are staying, down at the Opera House.
