My advice?
Stay where you are - but get rid of the cat.
It might not solve the aircraft noise problem, but it will be a much nicer house to live in............

As a recent accommodation researcher/hunter/mover with my own budget – I would advise you to stay where you are.
The ‘planes will bug you only if you so allow – anyway - it’s only the bloody Tupelovs that make a really disturbing racket.
Reglazing might be the way, best consult an expert. I was in Barcelona in Aug. First-floor overlooking La Ramblas - two french-door type windows, the noise with them open was horrendous, but with them closed it was hardly noticeable.
