Moving Home

Does anybody have 1st hand experience of moving within Dubai ? If so what removal firm did you use.... any good ?

Also can anybody suggest a good place to buy garden furniture ? I went to rattan house on SZR.... great choice but pricey

We used http://tmsdubai.net/ and they were fantastic. Arrived at 9:30am, over 5 years of junk shifted from The Ranches to The Palm by 7:00pm.

I used the same company, I can't recommend them highly enough, they are very professional and efficient.
Arrived at 9.30, packed and unpacked, everything was put away, beds reassembled and all finished by 8pm same day.

Ive never moved before so please excuse the ignorance... but do they supply you with boxes a few days before to pack items in or do they bring them on the day of the move ? How much is the average move ? Is it based on distance ? If so mine should be very cheap as im only moving a maximum of 1-4 roads

try parasol in al quoz (on the road where marina is going past mall of the emirates towards emirates road...http://www.parasoldubai.com/contact.asp. it's not cheap, but the furniture is really good...

on the cheap end of the scale, ace hardware always seems to have a big collection...

they ask if you want boxes before hand but I didn't bother. They arrived with about 12 guys and they wrapped and packed everything. Nothing was scratched or broken. All the boxes were unpacked and everything was put away. The clothes were put on racks and hung straight in the wardrobes.
I moved contents of a 4 bedroom villa with lots of furniture 3 streets and they charged me 4700dhs.
I also used a cleaning company to do an "industrial" clean before I moved to my new villa. That ensured that everything was spotless, cupboards/wardrobes/windows etc. It took them a day and it cost 3000dhs including cleaning a 4 piece suite.

Hope that helps

Whatever you do, do not choose Golden Box removals...even if they have a ramadan special where they pay you.

Without doubt the worst experience I have had living in the uae.

Unless of course you appreciate 8 fillipino's smoking and drinking your beer, spinning around on bar stools and let's not forget the 2 pakistani chaps I found crashed out on one of my spare beds..

It sounds bad?? It was..oh I forgot, stubbing fags out on the walls also, (in the livingroom)

If you want a wooden table try Safita in Al Quoz. If they haven't got what you want they'll make it for you too.
