Saw "A Serious Man" on the plane yesterday, well worth watching. Coen brothers directed, well acted, good storyline, darkly comic.

Also watched "Wild at Heart" with Nicholas Cage. Only chose it coz it was directed by David Lynch--I really don't think Cage can act (or, rather, he can only act in one very predictable way), and this movie is just one more piece of evidence. Good movie, but I had to ignore Cage's acting.

You're right about Cage, but he was in Con Air which I loved, so he's forgiven.

Ditto Costner = Field of Dreams.

I liked him in Face Off and City of Angels ( I cry every time). He's lost his looks with age mind, and he's become a bit irritating.

Shall let you know what films I end up watching on my 14 hr sleepless flight!

Yeah, I caught that on a plane recently. The sort of film we're good at.

I used to think the same about Cage (especially after seeing recent dirge like Knowing), but thought he was very good in Face Off and really good in Matchstick Men.

Nic Cage was very good in last 2 movies Kick Ass and Bad Lieutenant - looks terrible in Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Thought he was excellent as Sailor in Wild At Heart....

Cage makes movies that pass the time, all leave your brain at the door sort of stuff. I've quite liked most of what he has done, much and such like John Cusack, Jack Black and I guess Mr Ford to a certain extent.

Random film/book recommendation, however if you haven't seen or read it, Buffalo Soldiers is very very good in a dark way.

Infact, if you have seen it, look up Grosse Point Blank aswell.

Grosse Point Blank is awesome! Check out The Grifters for another great movie of that era... Red Rock West is good too...

For new movies - the year's best movie is Inception - it's a stone dead classic original movie. High concept with great cast, director and budget... it is fantastic. And yes, I've seen it.

Tom Cruise plays a cocktail waiter. Quite a good cocktail waiter. Then he has a crisis of confidence and can’t be a cocktail waiter anymore. He meets a woman who gives him his confidence back and he becomes a pretty good cocktail waiter again.

Tom Cruise plays a racing car driver. Quite a good racing car driver. Then he has a crisis of confidence and can’t be a racing car driver anymore. He meets a woman who gives him his confidence back and he becomes a pretty good racing car driver again.

Tom Cruise plays fighter pilot. Quite a good fighter pilot. Then he has a crisis of confidence and can’t be a fighter pilot anymore. He meets a woman who gives him his confidence back and he becomes a pretty good fighter pilot again.

Spot the pattern yet…..?

Shamelessly stolen from Rich Hall, but still makes me laugh!

Love love love Grosse Pointe Blank: john cusak is perfect in it.

I love watching the IT Crowd on a plane. Makes me roar with laughter which tends to piss people off. And Brooklyn's Finest was an interesting film if you're a Wire fan as so many if the cast were in it!

I don' t even know how to phrase what rubbish that movie is. Totally psychedelic! But Mads Mikkelsen is in it and he is sooo rough and masculine as ever
