Move your car after a fender bender
A fine of Dhs200 for drivers who don’t move their cars from the carriageway after minor accidents comes into force tomorrow.
Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, the director of the directorate, said: “Vehicles left in middle of the road or in lanes for trucks after minor accidents, tyre bursts or mechanical breakdowns often result in collisions or run-over accidents as drivers suddenly change lane to avoid cars in road.”
The officer added that “Article [12] of the Regulations for Federal Traffic Law, states that in the event of a traffic accident that does not result in a physical injury, parties involved shall park their vehicles on the roadside or in the nearest location that does not obstruct traffic”.

its always been the rules, but remember to take a piccie first so that you can prove who was at fault... otherwise after the event very difficult to explain etc

Re: Move your car after a fender bender
I remember reading before I came out here that the police insist cars are left where they are. Including one case where the car had ended up in the water, the owner had it dragged out. The police came and insisted it was put back where it was in the water.
Just yesterday a neighbours company driver had a bump, they phoned the cops who told them they were too busy and both were to drive to the nearest cop shop. When they arrived there they were told to drive back to the exact accident spot and leave the cars in the same position as when they bumped and await the patrol.
So there is still confusion as to what you should do, despite the potential 200 Dhm fine if you don't move your car.

The old hands here used to tell me about these 'laws' being passed at whimsies in the middle of the night without any proper SOPs written out etc and I didnt use to believe them but....
