Hailing from Manchester, Hurts are an indie electronic group featuring vocalist Theo Hutchcraft and keyboardist/guitarist Adam Anderson. They burst onto the music scene in 2010, quickly became the U.K‘s fastest selling new band of 2010, and this year won the award for ‘Best New Band’ at the NME Awards, an award that has been previously won by Coldplay, Muse, Kings Of Leon, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and MGMT.
“We are always asked to bring new artists to Dubai but in most cases these new artists won’t have enough of a following to warrant such a Middle East stop“ says Thomas Ovesen, COO of Done Events, “so it’s great to promote a new act that in a really short period of time has accumulated the most amazing reviews with a big following and a band we think could sell out the Irish Village on May 19th.”
Their debut album ‘Happiness’ is full of beautifully crafted electro-pop songs and entered the UK album charts at #4 with over 25,000 sales making Hurts the UK’s fastest selling new band of 2010. They have sold over 500,000 albums worldwide and the album has been officially certified Gold. Throughout Europe, Hurts earned 14 top 10 iTunes positions including the #1 spot in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Finland and Luxembourg, and the album is now gold in the UK, Austria, Russia, and Switzerland and Platinum in Poland and Germany. Hurts ended 2010 with a bang after winning Germany’s prestigious award for ‘Best International Newcomer’ at the Bambi’s (the German BAFTAs) and in the UK, The Sun awarded them as ‘Best Bizarre Session of 2010’. They also recently won the award for ‘Best New Band’ at the NME Awards which has been won in the past by Coldplay, Muse, Kings Of Leon, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and MGMT.
Hurts are currently on a sell-out European tour following their sold out shows in the UK in February. They will perform their first ever US show at the Coachella Music Festival next month followed by tour dates across Asia. Hurts make their first and only Middle Eastern stop in Dubai in May before heading home for a busy summer of festival performances including V Festival, Isle of Wight, T in the Park, Oxegen and Dot To Dot.

Re: More gigs
If you can't sell out the Irish Village, you might as well not bother..........

Re: More gigs
As someone planning on moving out to Abu Dhabi in September...I'm glad to hear that it's still possible to catch decent gigs such as The Hurts and Mundy!
