The guys behind that original Plantation Estates, couple of Brits Arthur someone was it and his Kenya based partner (Ryan) were jailed for a $440m fraud case brought by Nakheel and Dubai Islamic Bank a while back - it would appear Nakheel now own the land.

And the guys are still in jail 6 years on.

Found it on the FT

It will include seven kilometers of waterways, the world’s largest crystal lagoon body of freshwater at 350,000m2 and 60% green space.

Link

What can only be described as the most monumental waste of energy and resources ever conceived by men.

That will be a hell of a lot of desalinated water poured into a lagoon, which will then evaporate. Might as well just stand by the side of the road burning 1000 dirham notes. I would watch that!

in fairness - he had made a fortune from these bubbles and correctly protected himself so didn't lose much when each burst. I'm going to guess that he knows what he is doing.

Think it took two bankruptcies to learn the lesson though and as far as I can see he makes as much money from being in tv and a celebrity as he does in business these days. Utterly iver rated *********** but he knows how to work pr ill give him that much

The thing with the likes of Trump is he was born into a wealthy family and took the business over from his parents.

That being said, man can't be a complete idiot to have turned that into such vast wealth for himself.

Bankruptcy isn't as bad as people make out, Papa Scamp was bankrupt in '93 but retired in '05 at 51yrs...not a bad turnaround for a sweaty.

I wonder how much he lost in each of these bankruptcies. Very little, I suspect.
