The neo-confucians (I kid you not) made their women bind their feet because the guys found that, by making the women unable to walk, it was 'sexually stimulating' There is also another line of thought that it actually started in the earler Tang dynasty, as Chinese women attempted to imitate visiting groups of Turkish and Persian 'toe-dancing women' (early ballet). |
