I'm just astounded that there are different minimum wages based on nationality.

In fairness, the declared minimum salaries for maids are a good proxy for (i) quality of work and (ii) attractiveness. Both points of importance in this world.

In accordance with Sharia law, if one causes the death or injury of another person accidentally or intentionally, he or she has to pay blood money or diya. The blood money is to be paid to the victim's family as compensation. Whilst, in principle, the amount is meant to fixed for males and female it often varies by nationality / religion etc
