Military service is mandatory for all Turkish men - they can only escape it if they are ill, disabled or homosexual. But proving homosexuality is a humiliating ordeal.

Pretty much how it works in Jail too. The ones willing to receive are the ones that wear their trousers hanging below their arse. A trend now followed by teenagers and certain eijits in the UK unknowingly showing their availability.

Beg to differ. This trend stems from the removal of belts and shoelaces (shoestrings for Americans) when arrested and the effect they have on clothing. There is some 'cachet' to be had by being arrested amongst certain groups of young men. Dressing in this way (including the very curious looking sneakers) indicates that you all bin hangin' wit dem bad ass homeboys because you is one bad ass mofo!
