I did just order a salad for the 1st time in my life, not sure how the body is going to cope with it. Not seriously ill, but I knew my BP was high hence the trip to quack. Had ECG - all good with the tick tock seems that the sky high cholesterol will cause the high BP. Control the cholesterol and I should be fine. Oh, and try not to lose my temper - which I don't very often.
Be careful with salads as many are now a healthier or low cal option once dressing are added. Best to make your own and dress lightly with homemade vinagrette. Eat lots of steamed veg or stir fry your own with little oil. Plenty of garlic (good for thinning blood) and other herbs and spices for added flavour in place of so much salt. Bake or grill fish and chicken.
Buy the fruit you like most, even if it is the expensive stuff, but don't totally deny yourself chocolate or cake. Just don't stuff your face every day! You will adjust.

I had heard about garlic, thats a bonus as I love the stuff, fruit I will try and find something I like. Just been told Nando's is BBQ'd so that sorts lunch everyday after my breakfast of bran flakes.
Best find out now that be a ticking timebomb in my 40's and 50's.............

you should consider Heroin or Crystal Meth - clearly the fags aren't keeping the weight off so you need something stronger.

Living a healthier lifestyle isn't that difficult. I started about 18 months ago, I cut down on carbs, avoid anything processed or fried. Obvioulsy have the odd treats here and there, cutting down on bread and pasta etc can make a huge difference to your waistline.
