I dont see the reference at all here, I used to wear cardigans all the time in my 20s. I think I used to look very 'on' if I do say so myself
I have a perfectly seksy long black overcoat hanging in the closet since the past 5 years which I have never had a chance to wear coz it dont get cold here now does it?

I don't understand the notion of midlife crisis. Well, I understand where the thinking is coming from, but you're just getting older, as does every single other person in the history of humanity (assuming you didn't get killed/hacked to pieces/die of starvation/the bubonic plague/rampaging Catholics/Protestants). And life goes on. As it did for every single other person in the history of humanity (assuming you didn't get killed/hacked to pieces/die of starvation/the bubonic plague/rampaging Catholics/Protestants). Is that the thing about midlife crisis' tho, that you don't know if you 'are that type' and don't consider yourself to be having one? I can't imagine that the arsehole 40-50yr old lawyers / accountants etc who sit in Barasti and other establishments in their leather waist coats (with patches) talking about their poorly built tassel tractors (Harleys) consider themselves to be having a midlife crisis....

Whenever I hear someone's having a midlife it usually turns out to be someone who went off the edge, dumped a loving wife and family and shacked up with a young prostitute. The kids hate the dad, the ex wife becomes bitter, the prostitute shakes him down for everything before dumping him a few years later. He ends up sad and lonely having blown his good life in a pathetic attempt to recreate a youth that probably wasn't that great either.

Of course, this is the cliche stereotype from another angle

Perhaps we could discuss what exactly are the motivations for a midlife crisis? What is a midlife crisis? Does it stem from shock that you're no longer the hot 22y/o that can get laid with any woman he wants, and now are balding and have a paunch and a mortgage, two whinging brats and a semi in Surrey. Or is it something else?

It seems to me that midlife crises men fall into two categories:

1) those who hit their 40s and are now financially successful and have the means to have the lifestyle they fantasised when 22 and broke - they want to be the stud with a Porsche and a Russian blonde on both arms and buying endless rounds every night. So they try to be one.

2) those who realise they're likely halfway to death and life is now 50% over and panic and try to hold on to the concept of being young and foolish as a form of denial that they're old and boring.

Am I missing another category for the midlife crisis?

Note: before anyone gets offended, if you're 45 and have a motorcycle because you love the thrill and get pleasure out of it, that's not a midlife. If you're 45 and have a motorcycle because you want to pretend you're still 30, then that's a midlife, innit?
