Metallica confirmed for Yas Island gig/F1 act

Re: Metallica confirmed for Yas Island gig/F1 act
Saw the Cult in Brighton many years ago, slightly post their heyday - despite Ian Astbury being a little worse for wear they still put on a good show. They're the only ones I'd want to see of the Grand Priz shows, but not worth splashing out on a ticket for. As said, pretty odd line-up overall.
Tempted by the Fat Boy Slim and Example Beats on the Beach though.

I would love to see the Cult play - that would be awesome....
Millsy - Norm was really not that great when he was in DXB (even though I do love him)....

I remember the Cult well from my mid eighties uni days. I was never into much other indie stuff (well perhaps Killing Joke), but the Cult came up with plenty of storming riffs!

Did anyone else go along?
Having seen Metallica 8 or 9 times since their early days, the Yas show was one of the best I've seen!
A great choice of old and new favorites (when was the last time they played 4 songs from "Lightning"?) and a cracking cover of Diamond Head's "Am I Evil", which I haven't seen them play since 1986.
After something of of slow start in warming up (Large Oilrig looked dazed...), James seemed mightily impressed with the reaction of the audience. Me too...the subcontinental contingent love their metal.
If you missed it....see what you missed here:

What are the ticket prices for concerts like this?
One of the things that has surprised me about the UAE is the quantity and quality of some of the bands that appear to pass through.
(compared to Birmingham, anyway)

Metallica was 295aed (£50) for the general admission tickets which is roughly the same as you'd pay to see them in the UK.

I think the 'Beats on the beach' events are free - Fat Boy Slim, Example etc.
