Hmm. Apropos of a gnat's piss, I'll share today's ruminations sparked by the following exchange:

{Scene: SYB does absent-father lunch with the cherubins}

#1 Daughter(16 y.o.a.) - "Dad, did I tell you about Chris????"
SYB - "Ahhhh, the 19 yr old poetry writing insurance clerk that you dumped???"
#1 Daughter(16 y.o.a.) - "Err, no. He dumped me... Well, not exactly. He did ask me if I minded if he dated Kathy as well as me"
SYB - "Really??? What a .....considerate young man. And, ah, what age is Kathy"
#1 Daughter(16 y.o.a.) - "She's 19. But she works in superdrug... My friends say that he felt insecure because I was too good for him....."
SYB - "And no doubt you are, oh apple of my eye. That, and I imagine she puts out, too..."
#1 Daughter(16 y.o.a.) - "Err, Dad. I have had sex, you know...."
SYB {splutters into his latte}- "Euuuuh... TMI, darling. TMI"
#2 Daughter (12 y.o.a.) - "Yeh. That's wot I said too"
#3 Daughter (11 y.o.a.) - "Well, I hope you used a condom."
#1 Daughter(16 y.o.a.) - "What do you think I am, a slut????"
#2 Daughter (12 y.o.a.) - "Does Mum know what you been up to?????"

Frankly, having partially regained what pitifully remains of my cool -I'm finding myself questioning what I would wish for my kids as they start to explore their sexualities and relationships....

In short, I would hope something rather more than what Dr Gray's ramblings promise.....

Now, I shall excuse myself to ponder upon the potential ramifications of the cherubins' chorus of:

"I kissed a girl...... and I liked it" -

which they were kind enough to treat me to on the ride home......
