Why don't they happen anymore? I remember the days of anticapitalism when protestors woudl trash oxford street? Anyone?

Because we the people have become too indifferent with too many comforts. Governments and rulers 1 = the people 0.

People now riot without reason.

Well, they riot for shoes and ipads.

In some sense, I think it was Thatcher who carried on the policy of destroying the working class and the unions..so there isn't really anyone left to riot. I can't imagine call center employees rioting.

Apathy is the short answer - people are more concerned with bread and circuses than anything else. I don't agree with most unions as they tend to become corrupted with an inflated sense of entitlement...but, they have goals and principles which is a lot more than the looting mobs we have these days.

Welfare killed the working class more than anything else...
