Re: Is the ME forum too cliquey...
I know Im just a visitor to The Sand Pit,and I will butt out in a mo.But GarethR
you seem to be a bit fragile yourself, and as a Moderator dont you spend a lot of time on here(unpaid)?Personally speaking,I come in and out all day.My OH works in UK,I am on my own with my work which I do through the night.I do not have a television, and enjoy finding out things on here and having a banter. One night I actually had a burglar trying to break in and one of the posters talked me through it and kept me company till all was well, through PMs.I really do not think you should comment on how long people should spend on here.I thought it was for everyone. If Im wrong then I have been under a complete misinterpretation of it.Think you ought to loosen up a bit.
I know I do not belong on this thread but I felt that I wanted to comment, and if I have got this all wrong please tell me I will dissapear into my dreams.

hmmm...just read through all of this.
Gareth, i think a number of your comments to inselaffen are out of order...especially because you are a moderator.
It seems naive to think that starting up a separate section will change anything...no one deliberately sets out to hijack a thread...but these things are fluid, and it guess it's inevitable that they get sidetracked. I don't know of any other forum where this is different - even on EW, which is billed purely as an "information site", threads always go off in various directions. I don't think that in general we are too bad in the ME section...and in the sandpit, well that's what's expected, isn't it...??

Re: Is the ME forum too cliquey...
They've rather handily posted a picture of themselves here
Surely warmth can be shown without the same small group of people hijacking almost every single thread?
How would a separate thread for all the cliquey stuff affect that? People who want to read it can read it, people who don't want to read it can avoid it, and clearing up all the clutter might encourage a wider variety of people to post to the main forum. That can only be a good thing, right?

Why is it the "get a life" comment is always used when nothing more constructive can be said!!
What makes YOU think he doesn't have one?

For once I agree with Gareth.
There is so much crap posted on here now, I simply don't have time to read it all (or give up when a thread turns into a 4/5 people chat room).
I used to pick up/pass on useful information from BE. Now I expect I miss a fair bit.

I guess what I have learnt from this Thread is perhaps I should be more careful where I post chit chat type posts as perhaps it may distract from the main title in hand, I shall in future ''try'' and keep these to the Sand Pit where I'm sorry skys the limit there, can't promise all the time as often I can't resist looking a gift horse in the mouth.
