Anyway, moving on..........
Thanks for the advice so far.
One more thing........
Whats' the cost of living out there? I've been looking at 1 bedroom apartments (furnished) for around £800-900 a month. Would you say that's normal?
Thanks again.

You should really do some research on your own as well you know. A good start when it comes to money stuff is the 'Is it worth it guide' created by one of the guys who posts on here regularly. You'll find the link near the top in the main middle east forum...

You need to quote in AED and not expect us to convert for you...
Cost of living? That depends on so many things. Your lifestyle, whether you are high maintenance, if you insist on buying UK products, or are happy with alternatives, if you buy or rent a car etc. As Norsk has just pointed out, see the thread about costs.
As for the apartment, that depends on where it is, e.g. for The Marina it's fine, for Disco Gardens it's extortionate.

I would consider myself low maintenance. I don't drink or smoke (saying that, they way I'm feeling right now, I could easily start again). I've been told that I really don't need a car as taxis and the metro are pretty good. I would like to be in a nice area but not too fussy where.

Cigarettes are just Dhs 7-8 a pack so even if you do smoke, it isn't a great expense. Alcohol can be pricey though.
When deciding on an area take into account where you'll be working as it can take ages to get places on the Metro, although it is cheap. If relying on the Metro for transport you want to be close as even a 10 minute walk in the height of summer is beyond vile.

Thanks to everyone who has replied.
I'm getting myself all wound up over whether to take the job or not.
I'm single, no kids, no morgage, no finance on a car, no loans. Do I 'go for it' or stay where I am?
Only I can answer that, I know, but I do wish someone would make up my mind.
