I must admit I don't really like men in Tuxedos- I think they look like obnoxious, up their own arse, american tw*ts. Give me a Saville row tailored 3 piece suit anyday over a tux.

Ethos, did you take your lady friend out to Barastis whilst wearing a tux?

PS no offence meant to any americans but they aren't exactly known for their style and wear tuxedos to an opening of an envelope. New Yorkers don't count as American.

Very few Americans wear tuxedos....only serious old money Americans and the rich do. There are two occasions when Americans will wear tuxes, the high school prom (don't ask) and on their wedding day. Tuxes are far more common in the UK where it's also a popular middle class form of dress.

I wore flip flops, tees and shorts at Barasti last night.

Pickings are slim in Dubai, especially if you want a waterfront setting.

Barasti is one of those places that all expats pass through regardless of how they view it. For me, it's all about timing. I'd never go there willingly after 9 PM most nights but for a casual late afternoon / early evening drink it's chill and friendly.

I've never been... or even know where it is, but if the beer is more than 21Dh / pint then I shall not be going there either.

Tux procured. Shirt, bow tie and cummerbund also.

M&S Festival City had plenty.

Spent about 1700.

Shaken not stirred.
